Education & Employment
Charlie McClendon holds a Masters of Public Administration degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee. He was hired as Assistant City manager for the City of Avondale in August 2002, and appointed by the City Council in November, 2004. He was formerly the Director of Management and Budget for the City of Glendale.

Description of Responsibilities
The City Manager is the Chief Executive Officer of the City, and is responsible for the administration of the City in accordance with the City Council policy and Charter requirements. The City Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the City's 13 departments, as well as directly supervising Finance & Budget, Information Technology, City Clerk, and Human Resources.

The City Manager submits the City budget to Council each fiscal year and advises Council of future financial needs of the City. The City Manager is also responsible to appoint and remove all officers and employees of the City, subject to Civil Service provisions and the City Charter.
